True Portland Day
It's official....it is cloudy rainy and cold! True Portland here. And it is a small preview of the next future 9 months. It seems to always get the creative juices going though! I played soccer this morning at the dog park with my two labs and boyfriend. Now this afternoon is yet another newspaper day.
I had success in making many rolled pieces the other day, and so now I am just creating pendants, rings, and maybe even a bracelet. It spawned thoughs of all of the options for news paper. There are so many things to make. I often like the frames and bowls made with recycled magazines, but I enjoy the thin, flat finish, black and white qualities to the news paper instead. So today I may experiment with that as well. Clocks, sculptures, etc.

These are some of my past made newspaper pieces.
A friend of mine and I are also going to go around Portland and pop into a few shops with selling potential for some of my pieces. It should be fun! And that reminds me...I have to update Etsy with some of my fabric pieces!! AH! So much to do today!

Day off
So today is one of my days off from work at the coffee shop and I have so much to do! But I feel this way everytime im not working. :) I am currently making more of my newspaper jewelry, and have gotten a lot of feedback on it all. I want to make different styles of necklaces and even bracelets, but they take a long time to make. It takes an hour just to roll one piece of newspaper that will make about 10 beads. And of course, everything I want to make would take like 30 beads! Figures.
I am also making price tags from recycled cardboard packaging. I have found some that are green on one side and the natural cardboard on the other. Then I am embossing my site/name and they look pretty cool! I love embossed things, I might start embossing EVERYTHING. Oh, and I am also putting an eyelet into one side to string it on. Total grandma-style eyelets too. I remember playing with those as a kid. Anyways...off to work!
